Prague Sights, Sounds and Hotels
In Old Town you will find Old Town Square which, since the 11th century has been the heart of the Old City, and the ultimate sight to see in Prague. If you climb to the top of the Town Hall Tower and look down the steep roofs, you can see the original Gothic facades which are behind the dominating 18th century Baroque facades. The 15th century Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Hall is why locals and visitors assemble in the square shortly before the hour. Life size wooden statues of the 12 Apostles rotate in two windows above the main dial as the clock strikes twelve. The people of Prague have gathered together during the centuries by the celebrated statue of Jan Hus, the epitome of the Old Town Square, to demonstrate their feelings.
Prague's Old Town Square has been a gathering place since 1091, and is still going strong. Many of the outstanding Prague hotels are situated near the Old Town Square which makes it easy to explore the beautiful historical centre of Prague.
